In a farewell letter sent to the school community on Sunday, 19 July 2026, Lidor Cohen, principal of the Rona Ramon state elementary school, announced that he will step down at the end of the current school year to lead a different school.
Cohen wrote that the decision was not simple and that his years at the school had been "a great privilege and a source of pride." A founder of the school, he recalled: "Eight years ago I dreamed, together with my colleagues, of establishing 'Rona' and bringing quality, professional, warm and loving education." He credited the community with raising academic achievement, strengthening pupils' sense of belonging and safety, and nurturing "a generation of curious, values-driven and resilient students."
He thanked the staff, "who spared no effort and gave their soul for the children," and the pupils, whom he called the school's beating heart.
Rona Ramon opened in summer 2019 and serves roughly 500 pupils in grades one through six. The municipality has not yet announced his successor.
