Seven Memorial Spheres Unveiled in Parks and Walkways Across Harish

Each bereaved family chose the location, the photograph and the words that would accompany it — part of a commemoration policy the city council reworked after the losses it suffered from 2023 onwards.

On Tuesday, 8 September 2026, Harish Municipality held a ceremony to unveil seven memorial spheres in parks, along promenades and beside walking paths, commemorating seven residents who fell or died in recent years. Bereaved families, municipal representatives and council members attended.

The spheres honour Efrat Sharam, Tiferet Lapidot, Dan Ganot, Gil Fishitz, Yonatan David Deutsch, Rabbi Elisha Levinstern and Nehemia Erlanger. Each family chose its sphere's location, the photograph on it and the accompanying sentence.

The installation follows a change in municipal commemoration policy. After the heavy losses the city sustained from 2023 onwards, the council decided in May 2024 on a permanent model: a central memorial plus personal commemoration in public space. In February 2025 the plaza outside the Culture and Leisure Centre on Shoham Street was chosen for the central memorial.

Maj. Efrat Sharam Zarihan headed the cyber division at Mamram, the IDF's computing centre, and received the Israel Defense Prize for 2023. In August 2023 she was critically injured in a road accident on the way from her home in Harish to her base, and died of her wounds aged 34. Her organs were donated, saving others' lives.
