Police arrested two West Bank residents on Sunday, 4 October 2026, on suspicion of a violent robbery in the Vrad quarries, after a chase near the Iron interchange and Route 65 ended with a stolen BMW overturning.
According to Yedioth Harish, the suspects attacked a man in the quarries and took his belongings. Police spotted the stolen BMW and ordered it to stop; it fled towards Barta'a and Palestinian Authority territory. Officers fired at the car, which flipped. One suspect was caught at the scene; the other fled on foot and was caught after reinforcements searched the area.
About 1,000 people gathered. Police said they fired warning shots and used crowd-dispersal measures, and stones were thrown at the forces as they left, lightly injuring three officers. The Haifa Magistrate's Court extended the suspects' detention to 7 October 2026.
