The Harish Conservatory marked the end of its academic year with a festive concert in which talented pupils took the stage to play, sing and — by the audience's account — move the crowd.
About 200 of the city's children studied at the conservatory this year, across a wide range of instruments: violin, cello, clarinet, flute, drums and more. The year-end concert featured the conservatory's outstanding pupils in solo performances and ensembles, alongside children from the "Beit Sefer Menagen" ("Playing School") project, which the conservatory operates in cooperation with the municipality's education division to bring instrumental instruction into the city's schools.
The concert capped a year of growth for music education in Harish, a young city whose cultural institutions are being built essentially from scratch as its population grows. The conservatory has become one of the anchors of that effort, giving families an option for formal music training inside the city rather than in neighboring towns.
The municipality congratulated the pupils, teachers and parents on the year's achievements.
