The sixth cohort of the Raki'a pre-military preparatory academy (mechina), which is based in Harish, marked the completion of its program on Thursday evening at a graduation ceremony held in Givat Haviva.
Among those attending were the academy's chairman, Shemaya Avieli; its director, Lior Halperin; the academy's founders and leaders; instructional and operational staff; donors; parents; and the graduating participants. The Harish municipality was represented by acting Mayor Yochai Pradji; Deputy and acting Deputy Mayor Revital Gonen, who holds the education portfolio; and Deputy Mayor Moshe Ben Zikri, who holds the youth portfolio.
Raki'a was founded by Israeli Air Force pilots and works to educate young people toward values of responsibility, giving, leadership, love of the land, and social involvement.
Over the past year, the academy's participants played a significant role in community life in Harish. They took part in formal and informal educational settings and led a range of social initiatives, including blood drives and helping to run activity spaces for children during emergencies.
