A woman in her twenties was killed on Thursday morning, 16 July, when a car struck her on the shoulder of Route 65 near the Iron interchange, at the main entrance to Harish.

According to the Israel Police, the woman had pulled over lawfully at the side of the road for a traffic check after officers suspected a traffic violation. A preliminary investigation indicates that while she was standing outside her vehicle on the shoulder, a passing car veered out of its lane and struck her.

The report reached Magen David Adom's 101 dispatch center in the Sharon region at 11:16 a.m. Medics who arrived within minutes found the woman lying on the shoulder without a pulse and not breathing, suffering from severe multi-system trauma, and were forced to pronounce her dead at the scene. MDA initially estimated her age at about 30; police later described her as being in her twenties.

MDA paramedic Lia Bonder and senior EMT Nur Jamal, who treated her, described a severe crash scene with two damaged vehicles. "Her injury was very grave and we had no choice but to pronounce her death at the scene," they said.

The driver of the car that hit her, a 47-year-old woman, was lightly injured and taken to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera.

Traffic investigators from the police's Menashe area in the Coastal District have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the crash. The accident caused hours of heavy congestion on Route 65 approaching the Iron interchange westbound and on the ramp to Route 6 north — the main approach roads serving Harish — and police asked drivers to avoid the area and use navigation apps to find alternative routes.
